I Deeply Regret Any Misunderstanding My Initial Report May Have Caused— Nigerian Presidential Media Aide

Nigerian Presidential Media Aide - Dada Olusegun

Dada Olusegun, the special assistant to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on social media, has issued a formal clarification regarding his earlier statements about the airstrikes in Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, Silame Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

Taking to his official X handle, he acknowledged inaccuracies in his initial report, which had stated that the airstrikes were solely targeted at terrorist hideouts in Lakurawa and had no civilian impact.

The exact words of Mr. Olusegun read, “in light of new findings, I wish to address inaccuracies in my earlier post regarding the airstrikes in Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa, Silame Local Government Area, Sokoto State.

He further added that, “initial reports, based on security authorities’ statements and reconnaissance data, indicated that the strikes targeted Lakurawa terrorist hideouts and did not affect civilians. However, further investigations and corroborating video evidence have revealed that some civilians were, regrettably, impacted during the operation.

“I deeply regret any misunderstanding my initial report may have caused. These findings underscore the challenges of reporting on complex operations in areas where civilian and bandit presences overlap,” he stated.
