“Hunger exists everywhere, even in the US and UK” – Tinubu tells Nigerians amid hunger crisis
It is no longer news that Nigerians has been battling with hunger and starvation since president Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the president-elect.

The hunger crisis and economic hardship are due to the policies of the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government, with tragic stampedes at palliative distribution centers claiming the lives of the citizens.
President Bola Tinubu addressed the situation during a media chat, claiming that hunger is not unique to Nigeria and emphasizing that the stampedes were a result of poor planning, not economic hardships.
Recent events show the gravity of the issue. On Wednesday, a stampede at a children’s fair in Ibadan claimed 40 lives, while a similar tragedy on Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Abuja left 10 dead.
In Okija, Anambra State, at least 17 residents reportedly d@ed during the distribution of rice palliatives.
These incidents have drawn criticism, with opposition parties like the African Action Congress (AAC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) blaming the socioeconomic conditions exacerbated by recent policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and floatation of the naira.
President Tinubu, however, compared the situation to developed countries like the United States and the United Kingdom, where food banks and hunger relief systems exist.
