Grammy Grumbles: Ubi Franklin Calls Out Samklef Over comments on Davido

The 2025 Grammy Awards may be over, but the drama surrounding them is still unfolding. Davido’s three nominations didn’t translate into wins, and while some fans offered support feeling sorry, others, like Samklef, seized the opportunity to criticize. Samklef’s post, “Wizkid and Burna Boy go dey one place just dey laugh 😂 he wan win Grammy!🤣,” clearly rubbed many the wrong way, particularly those in Davido’s camp.

Ubi Franklin responded directly to Samklef, tweeting, “Samklef you actually need to stop this please, David is not the first person who has gotten nominated and hasn’t won yet. Chris Brown after 25 Nominations he just got two.” Franklin’s attempt to offer perspective and remind everyone that Grammy wins aren’t guaranteed even for established artists seemed to fall on some deaf ears. He further emphasized, “Stop dragging David into your continuous disrespectful commentary. I am very certain Burna and Wiz aren’t even bothered about the outcome yesterday at the Grammy.” Revealing a prior private conversation, he added, “I have spoken to you in private as my friend, you need to actually stop this rubbish you have been doing, please stop.”

The reactions to Ubi’s tweet were varied. Some supported his stance, with comments like, “thank u sir and God bless u for warning him in public too you are a good and real friend for this.. Samklef na mumu and a clout slave..” Others, however, pointed out past instances where Davido’s camp had been critical of other artists, asking, “When Big Wiz won it and david was mocking the Grammys, where were you? Did you tell David to stop the rubbish he was doing. See how fast tables turn.” Another commenter suggested a more direct approach: “Pls can you just sue the werèy for defamation.” A few even downplayed Samklef’s significance, saying, “Allow the “I be producer before before” to rant. This 2025 Samklef is not relevant.”

Clearly, the Grammy buzz, and the rivalries it fuels, are far from over.
