X user explains how music money is larger than football money, uses Burna Boy and Wizkid as case studies

A user on X explains why musicians are richer than footballers, as he uses Nigerian Afrobeat songwriters Burna Boy and Wizkid as a case study.

Considering the new trend of musicians purchasing luxury cars in Nigeria, there has been a serious debate about who makes more money: footballers or musicians.

Burna Boy, the Grammy-winning Afrobeat superstar, has expanded his luxury car collection by adding a Ferrari Purosangue valued at $1.3 million (approximately 2.1 billion naira).

Wizkid, on the other hand, recently purchased a 2024 Mclaren 750s; his car is worth 1.7 billion naira.

“Wizkid —1.7 Billion Naira on 2024 MCleran.”

MUSIC MONEY WILL ALWAYS DUST FOOTBALL MONEY,” he wrote on X.

@AnthonyNwadioh3: “Football Money long kpa, you just don’t spend it like the music guys.”

@Belonwuedu – ‘The only argument I agree with is that music money outlives the person because of the modern-day music streaming platforms, but follow me and do the math: a player who earns $150 every week has a cumulative 450k or 500k after tax depending on the country. which musician racks up such?”

@YUNGGUNZ001 – “Dey play even osihmen before when e dey Napoli dey collect $200k weekly and you think say money dey music pass football nor go warm eba.”

@Iamjoebrighton1 – “Lol, these men have been working so hard for more than 10 years to achieve this. A player who started playing football 3 years ago can achieve it in 3 years.”
