Ex-President Obasanjo’s former ADC, Maj Gen Chris Jemitola, di£s after collapsing at Abuja golf club

The Nigerian military community has been severely hit following the sudden passing of Major General Chris Jemitola (Rtd), a seasoned military officer and former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Jemitola collapsed while at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja on Thursday morning and was pronounced d£ad shortly after being rushed to the hospital.

This incident has left colleagues, friends, and associates in shock, as the cause of his collapse is not yet revealed. Known for his dedication and professionalism, Jemitola served as Obasanjo’s ADC from 2003 to 2007, during which he played a crucial role in providing security and strategic support to the presidency.

Major General Jemitola’s career was marked by excellence and steady progression through the ranks. Beyond his tenure as ADC, he served in several key positions within the Nigerian military.

He was the Director of Defence Information, a role that required strong leadership in managing military communications and public relations.

He also served as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil, strengthening defense cooperation between both nations.

Before his retirement, Jemitola held one of the most strategic positions in the Nigerian Army—Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP).

In this role, he was instrumental in shaping military strategies and overseeing national security initiatives. His vast experience and expertise earned him great respect within military and defense circles.
