Erik Ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United has been sacked with immediate effect

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, a popular football Journalist 

The official Manchester United statement reads: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future”.  

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited”.

Erik ten Hag, a 54 year old Dutch professional football manager  and former player.  He most recently managed Premier League club Manchester United 

The former Manchester United manager who took the job less than 2 years ago has been asked to vacate office.

According to Manchester United official statement, Ruud van Nistelrooy is expected to take over the job of Erik Ten Hag

Ruud van Nistelrooy is a Dutch former professional footballer and current interim manager of Manchester United. 

As a player, he was a good goal-scorer and one of the best finishers in the history of the sport.

Van Nistelrooy played for several clubs, including, Den Bosch (1993-1997), Heerenveen (1997-1998) and PSV Eindhoven (1998-2001).

He also played for Manchester United (2001-2006), and Real Madrid (2006-2010)

After retiring as a player, Van Nistelrooy moved into coaching.  He has held various roles, including assistant manager at PSV Eindhoven. 

He was particularly successful at Manchester United, winning numerous honors, including:

– Premier League (2002-2003, 2006-2007)

– FA Cup (2003-2004)

– League Cup (2005-2006)

Since the announcement, a couple of  Manchester United players has sent their farewell greetings to Erik Ten Hag

Bruno Fernandes said: “Thanks for everything, boss! I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best”.

“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us, I hope you fans can keep with you the good things Erik has done for our club”

Remember, a few weeks ago, Christiano Ronaldo made a remark about the sacked manager saying: 

“Erik Ten Hag says they cannot compete to win the Premier League and the Champions League…”

As a Manchester United coach, you can NOT say that. You have to fight for them”.

The sack announcement has since generated alot of reactions from fans across the social media.

Many suggested that Erik ten Hag should have been sacked before now. While others suggested that he could have been given more time at Manchester United to show what he really wants to do

But as at the time of writing this report, Erik ten Hag has been sacked as Manchester United Manager
