Deplorable Condition of Rivers State College of Health Science and Management Technology.

A student of the Rivers State College Of Health Science and Management Technology, Mile 4, Rumueme, shares the deplorable state of the College on Facebook.

He calls on the State Governor and all stakeholders to act fast to restore the dignity of the College.

Here is what he shared on his Facebook profile below:

”Last Saturday, my attention was drawn to the shambolic, pitiable, and despicable state of the Rivers State College Of Health Science & Technology as one which calls for concern and immediate intervention.

Haven been there myself few days ago, I only wondered why the school which educates thousands of Rivers/Nigerian youths should be left in such a state of pillory.

To start with, the infrastructure of the school does not reflect a learning environment.

At a first glance, it reminds one of slump. A ghetto which is inhabitable.

It is trite that only the children of the poor attends government schools but the state of the school is beyond deplorable.

The hostels are waterlogged and swampy. Breeding mosquitoes and other harmful organisms.

This dirty water encompasses the hostels up to knee level.
The roofing of many buildings in this school are old and seriously leaky.

The institution which sits next to the prestigious Port Harcourt Law School defaces the law school and its environs.

Especially provided the physical location of the institution in the heart of the City.

I am therefore using this opportunity to call on well meaning stake holders to go into the school and elevate the sufferings of both students and lecturers alike.

First and foremost, I call on the good governor of Rivers State. Sir Siminalayi Fubara to go to the school and see things for himself.

I also call on the Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Nma Odu to use her office to rescue this institution.

To visit and attend to the yearnings and wailings of the attendees of this institution.

The deplorable nature of the institution makes it highly imperative that I call on;
Rivers State Ministry Of Works
Rivers State Ministry of Education
Rivers State Ministry Of Health.

I am also calling on the commissioner of Education, Dr. Ovy Chinedum Chukwuma to visit and attend to the infrastructural needs of the Rivers State College of Health Science and Technology.

I, alongside the thousands of students and lecturers of the school will be greatly ecstatic if the needful is done.”
