This has since set the Internet on fire as the controversy got fans and critics talking.
While critics condemned the human rights activist for his carelessness towards the security of the account, fans stood up in defense of him, saying the incident was never the fault of the human rights activist, rather it can happen to anyone else regardless of their security consciousness.
However, this cyber attack has ignited fans to trace an old video of a man warning Verydarkman amid the insecurity surrounding his NGO website and account.
In the video, the old hacker warned the human rights activist to take down his website linked to the account with the NGO funds for the sake of his reputation.
The hacker further advised on the ways in which he can protect the website as well as the account from hackers.
Many have responded to the video, calling the hacker a prophet whose words have come to pass within a few weeks. Some fans of Verydarkman blamed the hacker for not reaching out to him earlier despite knowing so much about cybersecurity.
What’s your take on this? Do you believe the alleged 180 million can be recovered anymore? Let us know in the comments.
