Court battle looms as Nedu takes legal action against VeryDarkMan over viral video
Popular media personality Nedu Wazobia has taken legal action against social media critic and human rights activist Otse Martins popularly known as VeryDarkMan, demanding N500 million in damages over alleged def@matory statements made against him.

The controversy began after VeryDarkMan posted a 12-minute video on his YouTube and Instagram pages on February 19, 2025.
In the video, titled “How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians,” he accused Nedu of misusing scholarship funds meant for Nigerians.
Nedu’s legal team, representing both him and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd, dismissed the allegations, describing them as “defam@tory, f@lse, and disparaging.”
They also clarified that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz but is simply a talent under the brand.
As part of their demands, Nedu’s lawyers insisted that VeryDarkMan must “retract every video involving Nedu on all of his platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice, issue a public apology, and pay the sum of N500m for the damage caused to Nedu’s reputation.”
They warned that if these demands were not met, legal action would follow.
In response, VeryDarkMan acknowledged receiving the legal notice in a video posted on his Instagram page.
Speaking to his followers, he said, “Nedu’s lawyers have served me o, so make una get ready for court case.”
The situation has ignited discussion on social media with some people arguing that public figures should be held accountable for their actions, while others believe def@mation lawsuits should not be used to suppress criticism.
