Corps member goes viral for using NYSC allowance to fund projects for Ibadan school
A corps member just went viral after the shocking revelation of her using the allowance she got from NYSC to fund a project for a community school in Ibadan.
In her post on X (formerly Twitter), she noted in detail how she has built several other projects for the school during her service.
This post was made as a thread where others were sharing their NYSC experiences on X social media. She posted photos of the projects she had funded including the plan to dig a well for the school which turned into something bigger.
Furthermore, she shared her experience on the criticism she has faced so far from others and even her friends who said she was fooling for spending her allowance. Despite this, she kept going due to the pride she had in her achievements.
In her words, “I did 4 personal projects during my NYSC in Ibadan and received a meritorious award… but my friends think I was foolish to have wasted so much money. After NYSC, I didn’t have 100k to my name for a while, but I’m pleased I did all I did.”
She explained further that the principal of the school and nearby landlords had encouraged her to dig the well and even build a scaffold which is now serving as a storage space and resource for the community.
Since this post was made, several reactions came from the viewers.
