South Africa to Confiscate Chidinma Adetshina of Citizenship, Travel Documents

Chidimma Adetshina, the girl who made headlines for her nationality controversy, is to be roßbed of her South African identity and travel documents.

According to media reports, this choice comes after an investigation by the Department of Home Affairs. The investigation questioned Chidimma Adetshina’s  eligibility to compete inside the Miss South Africa competition.

Primarily because of her mom’s Mozambican roots and Nigerian father.

Miss Chidimma Adetshina, a law student born in Soweto, South Africa, withdrew from the opposition in August.

This is amidst allegations that her mother may have devoted “identity theft” to gain South African nationality.

Shortly after, the she  received an invitation to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria.

She eventually won the Miss Universe Nigeria  and gained the name. 

Currently, Chidimma  is in Mexico to representing Nigeria on the Miss Universe competition

The contention surrounding Miss Chidimma nationality sparked a wave of xenophobic attitudes and criticism in South Africa. This leaves her devastated and in need of therapy.

In an interview with the BBC, she expressed emotional distress and revealed plans to seek professional help

In a recent statement to a parliamentary committee, Tommy Makhode, the top civil servant in the Department of Home Affairs, confirmed that Adetshina’s documents would be revoked.

This is because of  she and her mother’s failure to offer motives for eligibility by the deadline.

The case has been referred to the special police unit (the Hawks) investigating serious crimes.

The case  has been drawn to a conclusion that it was a “case of fr*ud.”

Makhode, the top civil servant in the Department of Home Affairs,said that prosecutors are reviewing the problem and further decisions will be made from them.

Notwithstanding, Miss Chidimma Adetshina has maintained her pride in her South African and Nigerian nationality.
