Chelsea FC Speaks On Homophobic Comments Towards Sam Kerr and Mewis.

Chelsea have condemned the homophobic abuse thrown at Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis. After the couple announced they were having a child together, the club frowned seriously at the hateful comments they received.

The Blues star and the USWNT midfield maestro have been together since 2021 and they had gone on to announce their engagement last year. They also announced the good news of their child on Monday with beautiful vintage collage pictures. However, this good news turned sour as they both received hideous and hateful comments. So hideous that Kerr had to turn off the comment section of her Instagram post.

Chelsea issued a club statement saying those comments were “unacceptable”. Fellow footballers and Chelsea Women head coach, Sonia Bompastor, have extended their solidarity with the couple. Millie Bright, club skipper, also said her piece. “If I wasn’t a footballer, I’d come off social media in a heartbeat… there shouldn’t be room anywhere in this world for comments like that or behavior like that”.
