British Woman Sentenced To Pri$on for Horr!f!c Child Neglect.

The mother of a three-year-old girl who was hidden in a drawer under the bed and had never seen the daylight or even another human being’s face has been sentenced to pris0n for seven and a half years. The little girl was discovered by the mother’s partner in February 2023. According to him, he found the girl when he went upstairs to use the toilet, extremely malnourished and unable to walk or speak. It was a series of mumbles and shrieks that brought his attention to her. He discovered her with a cleft palate and scattered hair. She was also dehydrated. This made him call the police.

A social worker who arrived with the police at the scene gave a statement, which read: “I was taken aback by what I saw and was extremely shocked to see a baby looking up at me, sat in a divan drawer. [The baby] stared at me and was rocking back and forth.
“I looked at her mom and asked, ‘Is this where you keep her?’ The mother replied matter-of-factly, ‘Yes, in the drawer.’ I was shocked the mother did not show any emotion and appeared blase about the situation. “I asked if anyone else had ever seen [the child]. Mum stated, ‘No.’It became an overwhelming horr0r that I was probably the only other face [the girl] had seen apart from her mother’s.”

According to reports, the girl had been born in a bathtub of the mother’s home in March 2020. The woman resides in Cheshire but kept it a secret and never registered the baby. Her reasons for keeping her child a secret were that she had been in an abusive relationship with the father of the child, so she didn’t want him to know about the child. She put the baby inside the drawer of her bed and intermittently came to check on her and feed her milky Weetabix through a syringe. She regularly left the child under the bed while she took her other kids to school. She even left her on Christmas Eve to go stay with her parents.

The girl was unable to walk, crawl, talk, or make any other sounds when she was evaluated by medical professionals. She also exhibited floppy limbs, large feet in an unnatural position, and low muscle bulk. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) claimed that because of the severe neglect, her growth was so delayed that she was comparable to a baby who was 10 months old.

The judge in the case, the Recorder of Chester, Steven Everett, said the mother’s behaviour “totally defies belief. You starved that little girl of any love, attention, or interaction with others, a proper diet, and much-needed medical attention for a cleft palate.“ That little waif was locked in a room on her own. What you did was wicked beyond belief. Your actions were catastrophic. She is now coming to life from what was possibly a living d£ath.”

The little girl is now recovering in foster care.
