Boko Haram and ISWAP Coordinate Deadly Attack, Resulting in Three Soldier Fatalities

Three Nigerian Army personnel were murdered in a coordinated attack on a military post in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants.

In a protracted attack last Sunday, the rebels took control of the military installation in Isige town, Gwoza Local Government Area.

The terrorists are said to have taken two weapons trucks and set fire to multiple structures during the raid.

According to a military source who spoke on condition of anonymity, two private soldiers and a staff sergeant were killed in the attack.

But until their relatives are notified, their identities are being kept secret.

“There was an attack in Borno recently. One staff sergeant and two private soldiers were killed. The army authorities have remained silent on the incident, which took place at a base in Isige town,”* the source said. 

“The insurgents set a military vehicle ablaze and took off with two gun trucks before reinforcements arrived. By then, the Boko Haram fighters had already fled.”

Only a few weeks have passed since terrorists killed several troops and reported others missing during a violent attack on the military’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno.

Over 100,000 people have been killed and millions more have been displaced in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states as a result of the terrorist group’s murderous operations, despite the Nigerian Army’s repeated assurances that the insurgency has been mostly suppressed.
