The Mavin Records superstar attended the vibrant event in the company of influential personalities, including Skyla Tylaa, Wizkid’s sister-in-law, and Nigerian-British media presenter Madame Joyce. The three seemed to have much fun, laughing and dancing to the buzzing atmosphere.
Ayra Starr who is known for several hit songs and lively performances was captured in trending videos singing with energy and hyping up the crowd. Her electrifying performance was second to none and indeed a mark of her great talent, which has been one of the reasons she has stayed among the most promising young performers within the Nigerian music scene.
However, what she wore to the show took over all online platforms in no time. Ayra Starr appeared on stage in a skimpy outfit of a crop top and mini skirt, showing her perfectly toned body. The outfit fit her bold, young personality, but that did not mean everybody welcomed it. Social media was filled with divided comments and reviews as both fans and critics aired their opinions.
Some followers joined Ayra Starr in defense, lauding her for loving her skin. Others praised her composure, saying she did not bother with whatever happened around, her since fashion is one’s identity, especially for artistic people in the entertainment business.
On the other hand, she was chided for stripping to get across the borders, with a lot of people labeling her outfit nearly nonexistent. The fallout has re-energized a perpetual debate about how much society wants from its female artists and how much of that artist’s style is “acceptable” to the world.
This is not the first time that Ayra Starr’s fashion choices made headlines. The “Rush” crooner, celebrated for her signature Y2K-inspired wardrobe and daring aesthetics, never shies away from pushing boundaries where style is concerned. To many, her looks were a bit of a breath of fresh air; to others, they were somewhat needlessly provocative.
Yet, it would seem this noise does not faze Ayra Starr. The face of Afrobeats, the reason she belongs in the cluster of them is because of her artistry and unapologetic attitude. Love her or critique her, one thing is for sure: Ayra Starr surely knows her ways of keeping all eyes glued to her.
