Videos from gunmen attack in Aba leaves many to wonder about the impact on the safety of citizens.
In the early hours of the day, footages and photos from unknown gunmen attack in Abia flooded the internet. In one of the many viral videos, a young man threatens the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti to take down an army checkpoint situated in Abia/Imo boundary community of Ekenobizi in Umuopara, Umuahia LGA. Two casualties were discovered, identified as soldiers who stood at the checkpoint.
It was reported that during the attack, the troops were able to withstand the gunmen for a while and fire back, compelling the gunmen to withdraw but unfortunately, two soldiers were offered up as sacrifices.
Lt. Jonah Unuakhalu made a statement in which he accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of the attack. He, together with the Joint Task Force South East Operation, also pleaded with the people of the South East, appealing particularly to the people of Abia State to scour for relevant information on the attack, in other to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.
The burning question still remains, why did the gunmen attack that checkpoint and what warning were they giving to the Governor?
