“Akon wanted to do a lot of deals with me but when P-square knew of it, they betrayed me” – Mr May D

Nigerian Afrobeats songwriter and singer Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as May D, has ignited controversies on social media after sharing his experience with the Nigerian Afrobeats musicians Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as Psquare.

May D, known for his unique style of music, went on a podcast to narrate his frustration with the Psquare brand, which was why he broke up with them.
According to him, he said initially they didn’t want to sign him, but told him that they just wanted to help him. He further revealed how Akon, a Senegalese-American singer, rapper told him he was not going to shoot the ‘Chop my money’ video with them if he was not around.

So he left Nigeria for America and met Akon in his office. The Afrobeats superstar revealed how Akon vowed to disclose some deals to him but on the condition that he would go back to Nigeria and then come back to America for the deals.
Akon shared some deals with him but later disclosed to Psquare, thinking they were going to be nice to him. In the video, May D expressed frustration and regrets for disclosing those secrets to Psquare as a sincere fellow.
“I told Psquare that see what Akon told me, oo. But if I had known, I wouldn’t have told them” he said.
May D’s story got fans talking as many expressed their opinions amidst what transpired between the artists.
