Adesua Etomi-Wellington was born on February 22, 1986, in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. She is the baby of the family of three. Her dad is from Esan from Edo State and was in the Nigerian military while her mum, an engineer is from Yoruba tribe.

Etomi started her education at Corona School in Victoria Island, Lagos where she joined the drama club at 7. She later attended Queen’s College, Lagos. At 13 she moved to the UK and got a diploma in physical theatre, musical theatre and performing arts from City College Coventry in 2004. She furthered her education at the University of Wolverhampton and graduated with first class honours in Drama and Performance.
Career
Etomi’s career started on stage, she was in several stage plays such as “The Crucible”, “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Fractures”. She transitioned to Nollywood when she made her debut in the 2014 movie “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” where she played Debbie a woman facing domestic abuse.
She got wider recognition for her role in the romantic comedy “The Wedding Party” (2016) which was one of Nigeria’s highest grossing film. Her performance in “Falling” (2015) earned her Best Actress in a Drama at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
