17 year old teen Terseer Nyuma makes history as he becomes the youngest person in Nigerian chess history to win the National Chess Championship.

National 17 year old teenager by name Terseer Nyuma has made history as he has emerged the winner of the National Chess Championship, making history as the youngest person in the history of Nigerian Chess to attain such height.

 

The National chess championship is the biggest annual chess Championship held in Nigeria. The event is organised and hosted by Orchid – Lekki Chess Club, on behalf of the National chess Federation. This year’s edition was held at Orchid Hotels, Ikota – Lekki, Lagos State.

The event features the top most rated chess players who engage in a fierce but silent chess battle from which the best player emerges Winner.

The young teen who hails from the Middle belt region of the country, Terseer won fair and square as he defeated 9 other top Rated chess masters to become the youngest in history to win the Championship since its inception.

In his words, Guinness record breaking Chess Grandmaster Tunde Onakoya described Terseer as the “most talented chess player” he has ever come across. This proves to us that greatness doesn’t come by age or size, it is achieved through determination.
