Devastating Accident in Ondo Leaves Three Policemen and Female Suspect Lifeless

A terrible car accident in Ore, a commercial town in the Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Saturday claimed the lives of four individuals, including three police officers.

The victims were part of a police team from the state headquarters in Akure that had been sent to arrest a female suspect.

Local sources claim that a truck travelling from the Ijebu-Ode axis lost control while descending the Ore bridge, causing the catastrophe. The car crossed the median and collided with the police car carrying the officers and their suspect.

According to witnesses, the female suspect and the three police detectives died at the site right away, and another officer was seriously injured. The wounded detective was taken to a private hospital for immediate treatment.

Funmi Odunlami, the police spokesperson, confirmed the collision, calling it “unfortunate.” Samuel Ibitoye, the State Sector Commander for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), said the caravan driver’s excessive speeding was the cause of the collision.

Investigations into the tragedy are still underway, and the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the state hospital mortuary in Ore.

Additionally, the police are trying to find out more information about the injured officer’s health.
