IGP: Lagos has witnessed only one Bank Robbery since 2007

Only one bank heist has been successful in the state since 2007, according to Egbetokun, who spoke at the Lagos State Security Trust Fund’s 18th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security on Thursday.

According to Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, @rmed robb£ries and bank robb£ries are no longer common in Lagos State.

“What we are doing here today is the usual assistance that the state government has been giving to the police in the state. Without the assistance that the police receive from the government, we will not be able to do as much as we are doing in Lagos State. We would have been overwhelmed with !ns£curity in Lagos State.

There was a time that @rm£d robb£ry, bank robb£ry was common in Lagos, but I can recall that since 2007 till date, only one bank robb£ry succeeded in Lagos, and that was as far back as 2014. So, the days of armed robb£ry and bank robb£ry are gone,” Egbetokun said.

He claimed that Lagos State, being Nigeria’s economic centre, has and still experiences internal migration as thousands of people move there daily, which he stated has an impact on the state’s security.

According to the IGP, this means that in order to meet the challenges, the state’s police must keep strengthening and adapting their security measures.
