Stop praying for what you should work for: Reno Omokri knocks prayer warriors

Reno Omokri, a renowned online commentator and social media influencer, challenges the way many approach prayer.

In a Facebook on his official page, Reno said, “If all your prayer requests are things men can provide, why are you praying? Isn’t prayer meant for things you can’t do yourself? You pray to pass an exam that your friend reads to pass. 

You pray to get a job that your friend got on merit. You appeal to God for a car that your friend worked for. 

It looks as if you are abusing prayer, and you want God to give you the things He has equipped you to provide for yourself. It is high time we understand that prayer is not the solution to laziness,”

Reno Omokri charges religious folks not to rely on divine intervention for things they can achieve through their effort.

He also emphasized that humans are empowered to get what they need without necessarily abusing prayers.

According to Reno, prayer is not a shortcut to meeting our needs and it was never meant to replace human effort.

Some followers of Reno consider the post as a wake-up call while others say he’s downplaying the power of prayer.

Reacting to the post, @Yaron Sule said “From a different perspective; we don’t only pray for things God can provide but we pray to acknowledge God even for the things we think we can provide because it is not with our strength or ability but by the Grace of God”

@Adechidna Tidjani remarked “I agree. But you may also understand that some people pray even though they have full capacity to fulfill their needs. It is not necessarily due to laziness. Just a matter of assurance. You never know. There are some circumstances. Things happen.”
