Senate Acts To Settle Dispute Regarding Buhari’s Latest Tax Reform Bill
The Senate has stopped to tackle ongoing disputes regarding the suggested tax reform. Senate Vice President Sen. Baru Jibrin declared that the Finance Committee will delay no further steps on the bill during today’s plenary session.
The decision comes after heated debate between lawmakers and stakeholders over controversial provisions that have dominated recent discussions. Jibrin stressed the establishment of a special committee tasked with resolving the conflict, saying a “high-level meeting with the Attorney General of the Federation scheduled for tomorrow, December 5” would be guaranteed. Senate leaders have scheduled a special session of Parliament under the chairmanship of the minority leader.
