I will ensure President Tinubu release Nnamdi Kanu: Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, has sent a message of hope to South Easterners about the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

She stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would authorize his release, after being in detention for a couple of years.

Bianca also emphasized the need for peace in the Southeast region.

During the 13th memorial anniversary of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in Owerri on Tuesday, Bianca Ojukwu highlighted the importance of releasing Nnamdi Kanu.

“The release of Nnamdi Kanu is paramount to separating genuine freedom fighters from cr!m!nals causing mayhem in the Southeast. Our people face existential thre@ts, and we must act to restore peace,” she said.

Bianca highlighted the disappointing security situation in the South East, lamenting the rise of k!dnapp!ngs and v!ol£nce.

“Communities are empty. Our industrious sons and daughters have fled. K!dnäppers now abduct their brothers for ransom. This is not what Dim Ojukwu fought for,” she added.

Bianca Ojukwu made a passionate appeal to President Tinubu, stating that Kanu’s freedom would expose cr!m!nals hiding under the guise of IPOB and help restore normalcy to the region.

“President Tinubu understands the importance of Kanu’s release. It will expose the masqueraders behind the v!ol£nce and help restore order. I will do whatever it takes to ensure His Excellency grants this request,” she said.

She condemned the enforcement of v!ol£nt sit-at-home orders, citing that such actions undermine the principles of self-determination and have severely disrupted economic activities in the region.

“Ndigbo are enterprising and their brother’s keepers. We must reclaim our land and continue to propagate the ideals for which Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu stood,” she said.

“President Tinubu understands the importance of Kanu’s release. It will expose the masqueraders behind the v!ol£nce and help restore order.

I will do whatever it takes to ensure His Excellency (Tinubu) grants this request,” she stated.

“Our people are not known for hàrming their own. We must rise above this vil!ol£nce and work together to reclaim our dignity and heritage,” she concluded.

The premise of Kanu’s detention was since 2021, following his repatriation from Kenya to Nigeria. He was initially arr£sted in 2015 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Despite persistent appeals from prominent Igbo leaders, South Easterners, and the leadership of Ohaneze Ndigbo for Kanu’s release, successive Nigerian administrations have ignored these requests.

However, Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will facilitate his release.
