Yekini is Nigeria’s Greatest – Osimhen
The popular Nigerian football, and striker, Victor Osimhen praised Rashidi Yekini, a late Nigerian Football player in the Super Eagles team. Osimhen praised Yekini saying he is Nigeria’s greatest and best striker ever although the young footballer, Osimhen is on the brink of breaking the late legend’s forward goalscoring record according to PUNCH.

Victor recently scored the same number of goals as Segun Odegbami becoming Nigeria’s second-highest goalscorer with a total of 23 goals after drawing the match against Benin Republic last Thursday with a 1-1 score. Yekini’s record is however a total of 37 goals surpassing Osimhen’s record by 14 goals.
Osimhen who is just 25 years old recently posted a video on social media stating that the legend’s record would still stand even if he surpasses it.
He said,
“No, no. I don’t care about this. I just want to do my job and try to win games, score goals, and provide a lot of assists for my team,”
“Then if I equal it, I equal it, if I surpass it, I surpass it, but that doesn’t take away the fact that Rashidi Yekini is the greatest striker the Super Eagles have ever had. This record stood for a very, very long time and it still stands, so I think we should give him his flowers and also celebrate him.”
Apart from Yekini scoring 37 goals, he made history by scoring Nigeria’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal, dominating football in Africa during his time, and winning the top scorer award consecutively in the year 1992 and 1994.
His impressive goal-scoring record has stood for 30 years and is still standing; unbroken which shows how huge his achievement is.
