House Of Reps To Invite Abuja Bolt Driver Assaulted By Hon. Alex Ikwechegh
The House of Reps has said the bolt driver in Abuja, who was all*gedly ass@ulted by one of its members, Alex Ikwechegh will be invited.
The House of Reps chairman said the House would apply the principles of fair hearing and rules of law, while investigating the assault matter.
He stated, “In every case in which such things had been finished, the House of reps offers a privilege, opportunity as a substitute, to every party concerned to be heard. In this specific case.
The motive force could be invited via the ethics and privileges to inform his side of the story and the honorable member will also tell his facet of his story.
“And other people involved like whoever made those phone calls. And usually we ( House of Reps) do our things in the open.
The House of Reps believe public hearing and investigative hearings should be open. And the public can be assured that we are always open.”
Alex Ikwechegh had also thre*ten*d to make the driver disappear from Nigeria.
Stating that nothing would happen if he did, even if the driver called on the Inspector-General of Police.
The lawmaker also refused to pay the driver and boasted that he is a member of the House of Reps. He broke the driver’s phone and tore his clothes for “disr£specting him” He claimed.
He called him all sorts of names but the bolt driver remained silent from the viral video on social media that captured Alex Ikwechegh ass*ulting the Bolt driver.
The Nigeria Police Force had also said it has commenced an “impartial” investigation into the matter.
The police in a statement issued on Wednesday, 30th October 2024, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, reaffirmed its commitment and readiness to ensure justice is served accordingly.
