RCCG Suspends Two Pastors Over H*omos£xuality All*egation
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has suspended two pastors. The suspension happened shortly after a series of all*gations on social media.
The suspension was announced in a memo on 28th of October, 2024, and signed by its national overseer, Sunday Akande.
The suspension letter, which was addressed to the special assistant to the general overseer of administration, ordered an immediate investigation into the allegations against the suspended pastors.
The memo emphasized the church’s stand against h*mos€xuality. Stating that it’s doctrine does not give room to such acts
The national overseer, Sunday Akande, disclosed that the accused persons have been stripped of their duties within the RCCG till further notice.
Additionally, he said that an investigation would be launched and completed within 14 days.
The suspension memo reads:
“This memo serves to inform you of serious allegations of h*mos£xuality against Pastor Ayorinde Bello and Dcn Oke Mayowa…
“In accordance with our mission’s commitment to upholding the teachings of the Bible, we must address these allegations with the utmost seriousness it deserves.
“..The doctrine of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) does not allow or tolerate any act of h*mos£xuality. This stance is firmly rooted in biblical teachings, including but not limited to: Leviticus 18:22: ‘You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an ab*mination.’
“1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the s*xually imm*ral, nor id*laters, nor ad*lterers, nor men who practice h*mos£xuality.
“In light of these allegations, you are now directed to conduct a thorough investigation.
“..And all others who are alleged are to be temporarily relieved from all of their responsibilities in all mission organs. Pending the outcome of this investigation, which is expected to be concluded within two weeks.
“It is crucial that we handle this situation with care and integrity, and in accordance with our values as a church. Please ensure that the investigation is conducted confidentially and with respect for all parties involved.
“Thank you for your cooperation.”
According to the memo and other media reports, the alleged pastors have been suspended till further notice.
They may or may not be reinstated, it all depends on the outcome of the 2 weeks investigation
Many social media user has suggested that, the fact that RCCG Suspends Two Pastors over such allegation is a good move
Others said RCCG suspending Two Pastors over allegation, which is not yet proven isn’t proper
Whatever the case may be, we hope the investigation will be carried out on the two suspended RCCG Pastors and justice served at the end
