The 10th Assembly House of Reps Condemns Lawmaker’s Action, Says Probe ongoing; recall that in the early hours of 28 October 2024 at Maitama, the Lawmaker Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh member representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency, A$$ulted a Bolt driver by name Abuwastesya Stephen and Thre$tened to make him disappear.

The Bolt driver, Abuwastesya Stephen who was sent to deliver a package to the Lawmaker, was told to bring the package into the lawmaker’s house on arrival but he refused. His refusal prompted the lawmaker’s action and unfortunately for the lawmaker, the action was recorded and went viral on the internet.

This prompted wild reactions and condemnations from Nigerians and even the Nigerian police released a short message on their Instagram page following a case report by the Bolt driver saying

The Police Force also urges the public to refrain from using the name or office of the Inspector-General of Police to intimidate others, as such actions undermine the values of impartiality that the IGP’s office upholds.

In all of these, the 10th assembly House of Reps condemns lawmaker’s action on the Bolt driver and begins probing. Reps’ spokesman Akin Rotimi Jr said in a late Monday statement.

We are aware that the matter is now before the Nigeria Police, and we urge the public to allow the due process of investigation to unfold.
