“Body of Christ.” – Court Orders Arrest of VeryDarkMan Over Mercy Chinwo’s N1.1 Billion Lawsuit

Controversial social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), is once again in the spotlight as a court has ordered his arrest over his legal battle with popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo. The drama started when Mercy Chinwo sued VDM for a whopping N1.1 billion, accusing him of defamation and demanding a public retraction of his statements about her.

On Thursday, March 13, 2025, Judge Emmanuel Iyanna issued the arrest warrant after VDM failed to appear in court on March 5, despite being summoned. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, tried to plead on his behalf, assuring the court that VDM would be present at the next hearing. However, the judge wasn’t having any of it and rejected the plea.
VDM, known for his bold takes, had made several videos questioning the lawsuit against him. He suggested that something “suspicious” was going on and even accused the judge of being biased because of his admiration for Mercy Chinwo. He further alleged that the EFCC official handling the case was a friend of Mercy Chinwo’s husband, implying a conflict of interest.
With an arrest warrant now issued, the question is: Will VDM turn himself in, or will he fight back? One thing is certain—this case is far from over, and all eyes will be on how it unfolds in the coming weeks.
