Streamer Peller under fire for calling Runtown ‘Up-and-Coming Artist’
Popular TikToker Peller has ignited controversy after a recent livestream where he referred to Nigerian Afrobeats star Runtown as an “up-and-coming artist.”

Peller’s comment, made during an interaction with his co-streamer, quickly ignited backlash on social media, with fans and followers criticizing him for undermining Runtown’s accomplishments.
In the livestream, Peller’s co-streamer suggested featuring Runtown on the show. However, Peller rejected the idea, claiming that he wanted to work with established artists.
“Wetin be Runtown? That one never blow. We no know am. Give me another person. Who is that? Runtown? Don’t bring upcoming artists on my live video. Na artistes wey don blow well well I want,” he expressed in a tone many interpreted as dismissive and condescending.
This is a talk-down considering Runtown’s significant contributions to the Afrobeats genre.
The artist, whose breakout moment came with the 2014 hit “Gallardo” featuring Davido, achieved international fame with his 2016 smash “Mad Over You.” Since then, Runtown has become a prominent figure in the African music.
For many fans, Peller’s dismissive comments felt like an insult to someone who had already proven their mettle on the international stage.
