King Charles III reveals how Davido made him fall in love with pidgin English

British monarch King Charles III has expressed his newfound admiration for Nigerian music, particularly the genre of Afrobeats, kudos to the global sensation, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido.

During an appearance on the premiere of the new Apple Music show The King’s Music Room, King Charles shared how the Nigerian artist’s influence led him to fall in love with Pidgin English, a popular Nigerian dialect.

The show, which debuted this week, allowed the British monarch to unveil his musical tastes, showcasing a variety of songs from across the globe. 

One particular song that stood out was Davido’s hit track Kante, featuring Fave, which Charles III named as one of his favourite songs.

This led to the monarch’s surprising but delightful admission: “Davido has made me love Pidgin language. I would like to speak it the next time I visit Nigeria.”

King Charles’ comment is a testament of the talents and skills that dominate Afrobeats and African culture on the global stage. With artists like Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and others gaining international recognition.

 The genre has found a place in the hearts of listeners worldwide, including some unexpected fans.

Pidgin English, a vibrant and rich language blend, has grown in popularity due to the global reach of Afrobeats, further connecting diverse cultures and communities.
