Native Doctors Rally Against Alleged Witch-Hunt by Soludo Administration

Some Anambra State native doctors and practitioners of traditional medicine, Ndi Dibia and Ezenwanyi, have demonstrated against the state government’s purported selective justice.

They asserted that the employment of Agunaechemba security personnel violated their constitutionally protected fundamental rights to profess their preferred religion and constituted an anti-traditional faith witch hunt.

Gathering from all throughout the state, the indigenous physicians protested the stigmatisation of their profession by the state administration.

They said that the government was harassing them and suppressing their activities by utilising Agunaechemba.

In order to oppose what they claimed was the governor’s meddling, they conducted prayers and carried out rituals during the demonstration.

Speaking at a secret location, the group’s leader, High Priest Ikele, condemned Governor Charles Soludo’s conduct as “unjust and discriminatory.”

Ikele said, “We’re not cultists or criminals. We’re traditional healers serving our communities for generations. Soludo’s attempts to stigmatise and suppress our activities won’t succeed.”

Following their rejection of the clampdown, the native doctors promised to oppose the governor’s attempt for a second term in the November 8, 2025 election and to keep up their prayers and rituals until their demands were met.

Plans to prosecute detained native doctors for alleged infractions of the recently unveiled Anambra State Homeland Security Law have also been finalised by the state government.
