Headlined by EGOT-winning artist John Legend, the sold-out show featured top Nigerian acts, including Simi and DJ Consequence, and was hosted by popular media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Legend captivated the audience with hit songs like Ordinary People, PDA, Green Light, All of Me and Refuge, where he performed alongside Afrobeats icon Simi.

Expressing his excitement, he told fans, “It’s been too long, I’ve missed you all. We belong together, Lagos. I’m so happy we’re together tonight.”

He also showcased Nigerian fashion by wearing outfits designed by local brands Eleven Sixteen, Orange Culture, and Emmy Kasbit.

Move Afrika aims to establish a pan-African touring circuit for international artists while driving economic growth and strengthening healthcare systems across the continent.

Hugh Evans, Co-Founder & CEO of Global Citizen, emphasized the tour’s long-term vision: “Adding a second location to the Move Afrika tour this year is a major step.  We’ll continue pioneering and pushing our vision towards reality.”

Beyond music, the initiative is committed to community impact. In the lead-up to the Lagos event, Global Citizen hosted the “Stride for HER Rights Maternal Healthcare Walkathon” in partnership with the Lagos State Government.

Thousands participated, advocating for better maternal and child healthcare. Similar efforts were made in Kigali, Rwanda, with a mobile health clinic offering free reproductive healthcare services.

Move Afrika, Lagos was largely powered by local talent, with 90% of the crew and 95% of the equipment sourced from Nigeria.

The event also introduced the Music Economy Development Initiative (MEDI) to explore Africa’s music industry’s economic potential.
