Beatrice, the wife of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, was released from a UK prison in 2023 and has now arrived in Nigeria, marking a significant moment for her family and supporters.
Beatrice’s return to Nigeria on Tuesday ignited celebrations in her hometown, where family members, friends, and well-wishers gathered to welcome her back.
Recall that the Ekweremadus has been convicted of violation against human rights and has been facing legal battles in the United Kingdom.

In 2023, Beatrice Ekweremadu was sentenced to six years in a UK prison for her role in a controversial organ harvesting plot.
She, along with her husband Ike Ekweremadu and their accomplice Dr. Obinna Obeta, were convicted for conspiring to bring a young man from Nigeria to the UK for the purpose of harvesting his kidney.
The case was met with lots discussion across Nigeria as many accused the former deputy senate president of atrocities and demanded justice for the innocent man.
Regardless of the controversy surrounding the case, Beatrice’s return to Nigeria has been celebrated by her supporters, who view her release as a relief for the Ekweremadu family.
Her husband, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, however, remains incarcerated in the UK, where he is serving a 10-year prison sentence for his involvement in the same organ harvesting case.
