UNILAG Student Who Once Begged for Tuition Celebrates Graduation

A University of Lagos (UNILAG) student who once went public to beg for tuition fees just graduated from the institution at the university’s recent convocation ceremony.

Oluwakemi shared her story on social media, recounting her struggles at the university. In a post, she wrote about her journey from her first day at the university to the day she had to go public to beg for help to continue her education.

In her final year, Oluwakemi was seen in Ifako-Gbagada, Lagos, with a placard that read, “Please help a final year student with her school fees. God bless you.”

Many kind-hearted people on social media responded to her plea and helped her pay the N225,000 tuition fees.

She wrote on graduation: “Officially a B.Sc. Mass Communication graduate from the University of Lagos! What started in December 2017 has finally come to a beautiful end today. I’m so grateful to God for seeing me through this journey and to everyone who supported me financially along the way. ❤️❤️”

Her story has sparked many reactions and gathered the attention of many online, with many individuals commending her determination and resilience in overcoming financial obstacles to achieve her academic goals.
