22 people injured as bus runs into celebrants in Gombe.
A commercial bus coming at high speed ran into a peaceful procession of Christmas celebrants in Tumfure community, Gombe State.
A commercial bus coming at high speed rammed into several people holding a Christmas procession in Tumfure Community, Gombe state. The unfortunate incident occurred on Christmas Day, 25th December, 2024.
The Celebrants were on their way to the Government House and the Emir’s Palace to pay a courtesy visit to them when the uneventful disaster happened. Speaking on the unfortunate event, the spokesperson of the Gombe State Police, Buhari Abdullahi, said the event was tragic and blamed it on reckless driving. He advised the public on the importance of driving cautiously. He, however, stated that the injured victims were already hospitalised at the Federal Teaching Hospital and Specialist Hospital.
The police spokesperson also stated that no fatalities were recorded. Nonetheless, he said the police have launched a proper investigation into the matter. In reaction to this, the Gombe state Commissioner of Police tasked the Motor Traffic Department to carry out a thorough probe.
The Gombe state governor, Governor Inuwa Yahaya, expressed sympathy to the victims, their families, and to the entire Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Gombe state chapter. He also pledged to cover medical expenses.
