12 Mechanics Remanded for Alleged Thr€@ts to Governor Makinde
Twelve mechanics in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, have been placed under remand at the Agodi Correctional Centre due to allegations of def@m@tion and thr£@ts against the state’s governor, Seyi Makinde.
The accused were ordered to be remanded pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) by the court, which was presided over by Chief Magistrate Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi.
The twelve suspects included Abdullahi Alajiga (38), Olaniyi Dauda (71), Alfa Olafisoye (69), Daudu Babalola (52), Akande Musbau (58), Olatinwo Wale (42), Saheed Tijani (41), and Sunday Awosope (38).
Idris Olujimi (32), Ayobami Idowu (37), Olajire Sodiq (24), and Adeniyi Alimi (51)
According to information obtained, the defendants were charged with eight counts: unlawful assembly, causing fear, publishing false information, thr£@tening v!ol£nce, treasonous felony, thr£at of m¥rd£r, publication of def@m@tory material, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
It was claimed that on December 5, 2024, they perpetrated the crime against Makinde.
The alleged cr!m£ was committed in Olubadan Estate in the state’s Egbeda local government area.
The defendants allegedly thr£@tened to remove Governor Makinde from office by force in a video that they shared on social media, according to Inspector Sikiru Opaleye, the police prosecutor.
The defendants are accused of violating sections 41 (b), 59, 70, 86 (1), 249 (d), 323, 375, and 516 of the Oyo State 2000 Cr!m!nal Code Law.
